Radley has long had a strong connection to polo with one of England’s top players Malcolm Borwick (currently a 6 goal player) being an Old Radleian. Radleians play at Oxford Polo all year round in weekly sessions although the focus is in the Summer Term. Radley have a very talented and deep squad of players that consistently do well at SUPA events. The 2016 & 2017 seasons should be promising as many of the talented players are now at the top of the school. In the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, arena polo practice is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and if the weather is kind, we can catch the last weeks of the grass season at Kirtlington. Radley often organise a full and challenging fixture list and play a number of friendly matches in the Lent Term and summer terms, as well as the National Schools Tournaments in March (arena) and June (grass) respectively.
In recent years we have finished the season with the very popular Parents v Boys match and end of season Barbecue. Radley are very fortunate to having many parents that play and are hugely supportive to the school teams. The match has been played for three years now and was a chance for the parents to put the boys in their place. However, as the years have ticked by time as been kinder to the boys rather than the parents. Now from the sideline you often hear, “When you get to my age……..”
